Several MENA governments are mid-transition — new ministers, shifting priorities, restructured ministries. For businesses with active regulatory matters or pending approvals, understanding how to navigate that uncertainty is not optional.

Ministerial transitions in the region rarely come with formal handover notes. Relationships built with a previous administration do not automatically transfer. Companies with pending approvals or active regulatory engagements need to re-establish their position with incoming decision-makers — ideally before a decision is required, not after. The most common mistake is assuming that prior progress on a regulatory file protects against reversal. It does not. Active management of government relationships is not a one-time exercise; it is an ongoing programme that requires consistent, informed engagement with the relevant principals.
